The Bucks County Intermediate Unit (Bucks IU) is hosting an informative evening for parents, families, and students with varying levels of disabilities between the ages of 14-21, to share information on the many options available to the child as they transition to the next level of their growth and development. Whether the student is looking at post-secondary education, training, employment, independent living, or a combination of these, attendees will have the opportunity to speak with over 50 organizations one-on-one to gather information and discuss resources available to their child.
Agencies planning to attend include, but are not limited to colleges, trade schools, group homes, financial institutions, independent living groups, and home care services which have specific information related to the support and development of special needs student and their unique transitional plans and challenges. A resource area consisting of Bucks IU staff, social workers, and others specifically knowledgeable with the transition process, will be available to provide direction as to the organizations attendees may wish to make sure they see regarding their student.
This free event is being held on Thursday November 3, 2016 from 5:30-8:30pm at the Bucks County Intermediate Unit located at 705 N. Shady Retreat Rd., in Doylestown PA and is open to the public. So that we can best prepare for all of the attendees, pre-registration is recommended ( click here) but not required. Should you have any questions or if you would like additional program details, please contact Denise Distel at DDistel@BucksIU.org.
